    What a surprise study conclusion!
The Keller patients has more ROM than the fusion patients.

I hope the Government didn't pay for this study (i.e. my tax money)

I'm betting that a longer follow up than 3 years would drastically change the results.
Also: the age of the patient at the time of surgery is a critical criteria for prognosis.

My take: This paper is of no value to surgeons deciding how to treat Hallux rigidus.

This was a poorly designed study since the scale used for measuring outcomes includes ROM of the joint. Obviously when a fusion is performed this area of the score will be affected.

Is anyone on here doing these? My questions are as follows:
    - how does it change your post-operative protocol for your patients?
    - can you mobilise patients sooner?
    - does the fusion site heal quicker?
    - how long does the procedure take?
    - is there less post-op swelling?
    - is there less pain?
    - what are the complication rates and how do they compare to open surgery in your hands?
    - are there any like for like studies comparing a single surgeon's results with traditional open surgery v minimally invasive?
