    Hello all,

I am a UK podiatry Bsc hons graduate with one years private experience. I have an interest in working in the Greater Toronto area. I understand that I would have to sit the COCOO exams.
Is there another other profesional bodies that I would have to report to?

Also I would be very grateful if anyone could offer advice on the current jobs market in the area and the likelihood of a foreigner being offered a position within a practice.

    Thanks very much
    AK

    Hi,

I tried to post a reply long time ago but had a link in it so I see it was not published yet (I did not have many posts).

You have to sit the cocoo examination in order to practice in Ontario. You have the OSC association, but you do not have to report to it. On their website you can find jobs. Go and search for Ontario Society of Chiropodists; under Classifieds go to Jobs and Postings.

I know some chiropodists/podiatrists who came here from England, and are either employed by community centres/hospitals or they opened their own office. It does not matter where you were trained as long as you pass the COCOO exams. Exams are held once per year, as far as I know and next one will be around end of April, beginning of May 2011.
    Hope this helps.
